Hungary is an Emerging Innovator, performing at 69.5% of the EU average in 2025. Above the EU average of Emerging Innovators, it has shown steady progress, especially in public-private R&D co-publications, international doctorate students, and exports of medium and high-tech products. Recent gains include increases in cloud computing, the number of individuals with above basic overasll digital skills, and lifelong learning participation.
In Hungary VR Health Champions together with its partners EIT Health InnoStars and Syreon Research Institute drive technological advancements in VR/AR healthcare solutions by fostering collaboration between start-ups, researchers, and industry leaders by promoting cutting-edge technologies: artificial intelligence, big data and AI-based data analysis technologies, strengthening SMEs in the health sector, supporting collaboration between medical researchers and start-ups, SMEs and innovators, encouraging the spread of innovative solutions for technological change.

EIT Health InnoStars: The InnoStars cluster is one of the eight geographical areas of EIT Health. InnoStars is focused on promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and education in the domain of healthcare, healthy living and active ageing in the region and closing the gap between regions that are leaders in innovation and those regions which are progressing.
Syreon Research Institute is an independent research oriented company. It is providing expert services in the fields of evidence synthesis, health economics, health policy and public health, and conducts training for public health care institutes, the pharmaceutical and health services sector. Scientists of SRI are experts at the interface of clinical research and economic evaluation and have published widely in this area. The Institute partners with an elite portfolio of global pharmaceutical corporations, emerging biotechnology companies, public health institutes, and academic networks. The company has a strategic partnership with Syreon Corporation which is a clinical research organization (CRO) specialising in the use of digital information technologies to support the rapid pace and scope of drug evaluation and health systems research.
