The VR Health Champions Open Call 2026 is now open for applications from SMEs across Europe developing breakthrough XR healthcare solutions. Selected participants will receive up to €60,000 in funding and gain access to a dynamic pan-European innovation ecosystem.
We are seeking small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in XR healthcare innovation to collaborate with our five flagship SMEs and address one of 14 strategic challenges shaping the future of XR in healthcare. Our flagship innovators include dotLumen, MedApp S.A., MEEVA Srl Benefit Corp, Metaskills, and Virtuleap.
The challenges cover critical areas such as:
- Market entry and adoption strategies
- Regulatory documentation
- GDPR and cybersecurity compliance
- Healthcare professional onboarding
- AI-driven training models
- Digital twins
- Clinical investigations
- Medical image segmentation
- Advanced wearable technologies
Successful applicants will benefit from:

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Qualify as an SME under EU Recommendation 2003/361/EC
- Be legally established in:
- A region covered by the VRHC consortium, or
- A less developed EU region, or
- An EU outermost region
